The Objectives

We want our students to learn useful daily expressions in the most spoken languages of EU via taking part in authentic language learning activities abroad and making use of the E-Mate application.

We want to widen our students’ vision to see the future in the abilities to be entrepreneurs in software programming which is required by many working sectors.

We want to increase dimension of inclusive education in the EU through offering an equal and friendly educational environment which will include all kinds of students.

We want our students to understand and increase their appreciation of their own as well as other languages and cultures.

We want our students to gain a better understanding on how they learn and what strategies to use to improve their learning.

We want to create synergy among young people through language learning/teaching tutorials.

We want strenghten teaching profile via learning new innovative methods involving ICT and exchanging good practices

We aim to develop interaction among the partner schools.

We want offer a mobile solution for communication problems of Erasmus+ beneficiars and all language learners

About The Project

The EU has set the goal that every citizen should have the opportunity to acquire at least two foreign languages, from an early age. The promotion of language learning and linguistic diversity is one of the specific objectives; as the lack of language competences is one of the main barriers to participation in European education, training and youth programmes. On the other hand, from texting to video calls and social networking, mobile phones-tablets are taking an ever-expanding role in our daily lives, and there is a great opportunity for creative and entrepreneurial people to make a future in prosperity via showing media software-programming skills by creating applications like Twitter, Facebook, WhatsApp etc. With the priority given to linguistic diversity and the widespread use of smartphones, we came up with the idea of enhancing multilingualism among our students via offering them an opportunitiy to learn some daily expressions of the most spoken European langauges in an authentic environment during language learning activities and supporting them in creating/testing/implementing a learning e-tool. Our project is acronymed as E-Mate and it will be the name of an application which will be our final product and will include the equivalents of useful daily expressions in the languages of the partners. We will publicate the application on the platforms like Google Play Store, Apple Store, Windows Store for free use to anyone.

We have conveyed a survey on language learning among 5 partner schools (Turkey, Germany, France, Italy, Spain) and in accordance with the needs analysis we have decided to create a strategic partnership.

Meetings

We plan to do one transnational only teachers meeting at the beginning of the project.

• The meeting will be held in Turkey (October 2016) and 2 teachers from each partner school will take part in. We will discuss on the practicalities of the student exchanges. The Application Developer will introduce the planned features of the Application and train us about its creation. We will work out on implementing authentic learning/ teaching/training activities, sound recording processes, preparation arrangements, conflict resolution processes, defining deadlines as well as make agreements about evaluation tools, make a budget and a dissemination plan. The Mobility Tool+ will be introduced as well, and the guest teachers will meet with teachers from local school.

The rest of the transnational project meetings are included in short-term exchanges of student groups; accompanied by teachers.

• There will be 5 transnational project meetings including authentic learning/teaching/training activities; one meeting at each partner country.2 of these meetings will be in the first year and the rest 3 in the last year. 40 students and 40 teachers (2 students and 2 teachers from each guest country per meeting) will take part in these mobilities. The main purpose of these transnational meetings is to learn daily expressions of the target language in tutorials and real world authentic environment, try to communicate basicly in the that language, implement and test the relevant module of the E-Mate Application, let the students work together, get to know and learn from each other in a friendly environment. We aim that these project meetings will enhance multilingualism among our students, stimulate their entreprenurship and creativity especially in mobile software programming. Another important purpose of these transnational meetings is to let our students learn more about other languages-cultures at first hand, face-to-face. Yet another purpose of the these meetings is to let teachers meet, learn and exchange experiences about ICT-based language teaching methods-tools and how to help our students find strategies to become better learners via making use of authentic real world language learning and ICT. Students from 5 countries will take part in each meeting; including some disadvantaged ones like migrants/refugees and ones with fewer opportunities.
